What do I have to say about my art?
As artists, we have to talk and write statements about our work. It is an important tool to let others know where we are coming from, what inspires us, what our message is.
I had the opportunity to work in a group of 14 – 22 artists for nine days. We had 4 empty class rooms to share and we all worked individually on our art.
I have been working on the ‘Rocks and Formations’ series for a while now; almost one year. The choice to work on a series keeps me focused and is a great way to realize an idea and to really stay with it.
How did I choose the theme?
After working with the mineral mica for nearly two years, I decided to move on. The process of moving on is a very interesting one and, despite my being tired of ‘mica’ and despite of the fact that my vision was to just do something totally different, I discovered that I am already in the process of creating the new series and that one thing leads into another.
